Case Study: Design Pattern Prototyping – UI slider

The requirement for a complex slider called for a complex prototype, one which would model all behaviours.

Slider prototype - default

The interactive device responded like a real slider and dynamically created variables to populate this and subsequent screens.

Slider prototype - altered

The initial user testing identified how the colour treatment was actually counter-intuitive. The orange colour (used for advisory purposes) actually attracted – rather than deterred – end user interaction within these regions of the slider, prompting a change to the colour scheme applied.
